An outbreak of Cholera is occurring in Yemen. Twenty five people have died in the last week alone. Cholera is a disease usually contracted through contaminated drinking water.

This disease causes diarrhea, which left untreated can lead to death. Drinkable water is becoming more of a problem in Yemen, in recent years. Two years of war in Yemen is the root cause.

Twenty seven thousand cases of Cholera have been reported in past few years. One hundred thirty deaths have occurred. Severe cases of Cholera can kill you within hours if not treated properly.

Water pumping stations have not been functioning properly this year in Yemen. This country is also suffering electricity problems.

Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie – Pint Slices Recall

Ben and Jerry’s has issued a voluntary recall for their Chocolate Fudge Brownie Pint Slices. This product might by accident include Vanilla Peanut Butter Cup Pint Slices. This company is recalling this product for allergy reasons.

Some people might be allergic to peanuts and or peanut products. Since this product did not include this ingrediant on the packaging, Ben and Jerry’s decided to recall a limited number of boxes. You want to look for UPC code of 076840657940 best by date AUG1218LT2 and lot number of AUG1218LT2.

One consumer complaint was received but no illnesses have been reported. You are asked not to consume this product if you have allergies attributable to peanuts. Also, you are asked to keep the outside box and call 1-877-270-7397.

Aunt Jemima Waffles – Pinnacle Frozen Foods Recall

Pinnacle Foods Incorporated is conducting a voluntarily recall of Aunt Jemima brand frozen foods. This recall is because of possible Listeria in these products. No reported cases of illness have arisen.

Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes, Frozen Waffles, and Frozen French Toast Slices are being recalled. Listeria was found in in one of Pinnacle Foods’ plant. Also, one product exported to Mexico has been recalled.

Specific products are being recalled by “Best by” dates. These products are being removed from retail store shelves. Recalled products are only Aunt Jemima frozen products and none of them are dry and or mix type products.

A total of nineteen products are being recalled. If you have any of these products, you are advised not to consume them. Also, you can return any of these products for a full refund.

Johnson and Johnson Sued – Resulting in $110M Talc Powder Fine

A sixty two year old woman Lois Slemp, was recently awarded one hundred ten million dollars, from a lawsuit filed against Johnson and Johnson. She used their talcum powder products for over forty years. In two thousand twelve she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Also, this woman used baby talcum powder. This huge settlement was awarded by a Virginia jury. Also, there are around one thousand two hundred similar active legal cases against Johnson and Johnson.

Last year a family of a now since deceased cancer patient was awarded seventy two million dollars. That legal case was settled in a Missouri court also by a jury. Scientific studies were used in both court cases, claiming that there is a link between higher cancer rates and Johnson and Johnson talcum powder.

Allegedly, Johnson and Johnson is aware of this link and yet still produces talcum powder that can increase a persons likelyhood of obtaining cancer. Johnson and Johnson plans on appealing most if not all these high settlement cases. This company still claims that their Johnson and Johnson talcum powder is safe.

St. Francis Health Center – Bought by University of Kansas Health

University of Kansas Health System and Ardent Health Services also known as Ardent acquired St. Francis Health Center today. This is a joint venture between these two health service providers. Saint Francis Health currently has three hundred seventy eight beds. This joint venture will allow this hospital to remain open.

No job cuts are expected and actually fifty million dollars of capital are to increase. Currently, Saint Francis Health has one thousand six hundred employees. This transaction is supposed to get completed in sixty days.

Current management at Saint Francis Health will not change. Saint Francis Health is located in Topeka, Kansas.

Mississippi Department of Health – Reduces Workforce by 650

The Mississippi department of mental health is going to reduce their work force by six hundred fifty employees. These will all be layoffs that include one hundred twenty five employees. These layoffs are caused by state budget cuts.

These budget cuts take effect June thirty two thousand eighteen. This government bureaucracy will lose around twenty million dollars of funding. Two residential centers Central Mississippi Residential Center and East Mississippi State Hospital will cut nearly one hundred fifty jobs.

Some services at eight facilities will be transitioned to other locations. Budget cuts at six other locations range from one million to fourteen million dollars. Some mental health services from multiple locations will merge together.

Finally, some services will be relocated to community health centers.
